Ecophon accelerates path to net-zero acoustic solutions

Press release 2025-07-15

Ecophon, a Saint-Gobain company and global leader in sustainable acoustic solutions, today published its 2024 Sustainability Report, highlighting significant results in carbon footprint reduction and circular business initiatives.

In 2024, Ecophon achieved an 80%* reduction in direct emissions (Scope 1 & 2) from its production sites. A milestone was reached when the company’s Hyllinge site in Sweden became the first Ecophon facility to eliminate all direct carbon emissions.

Ecophon also expanded its award-winning circularity program, SoundCircularity™, launching a pioneering Reuse Service that recovers, requalifies, and resells used acoustic panels – extending product lifecycles and reducing waste. The Ecophon Recycling Service now operates in seven countries, doubling both the volume of recycled ceilings and customer participation in 2024.

In product innovation, Ecophon broadened its CarbonLow range, offering complete acoustic ceiling systems with up to 43%** lower carbon footprint, without compromising technical performance.

“We don’t wait for change – we lead it,” says Pierre-Emmanuel Thiard, CEO of Ecophon. “Our ambition to become the first net-zero carbon acoustic manufacturer drives us to rethink materials, systems, and responsibility across the value chain.”

The report also highlights the position of Ecophon as an industry leader in product transparency, with 88% of its sales now covered by third-party verified Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs). This enables customers to make fact-based, climate-conscious decisions for sustainable building projects with confidence.

*Compared to a 2017 baseline.
**GWP in life-cycle stages A1 to C4, EPD indicators in accordance with EN 15804+A1. Average reduction is compared with 6 standard products. Simulated system includes only tiles, main runners and cross tees in dimension 600x600 mm [kgCO2eq./m2]. Direct fixing glue, angle trims, clips and hangers are excluded when calculating results.
