Warsaw welcomes a new school: architecture that supports learning

A new primary school has opened on Konstruktorska Street in Warsaw’s Mokotów district. Developed by Echo Investment and Archicom under Poland’s special housing act, the school was created alongside the Modern Mokotów residential development.

This is more than just another educational building – it stands as a strong example of how public–private collaboration can deliver spaces that truly benefit the community.

Designed by WWAA architects, the concept makes extensive use of natural materials such as concrete, wood and stone. With its minimalist aesthetic, inspired by American school design, the building offers open learning areas and generously glazed classrooms that fill the interiors with natural light. However, these features also present acoustic challenges.

To overcome them, acoustic comfort was prioritised from the outset. Classrooms and the sports hall were fitted with Ecophon Saga™ wood wool systems, which effectively reduce echo and background noise. The result is an environment where pupils can concentrate and teachers can be heard with clarity.

Ecophon solutions also met the project’s demanding sound absorption requirements, while ensuring sufficient ceiling space for essential building services.

The new school on Konstruktorska Street demonstrates that investing in education is about more than bricks and mortar. It is about creating environments that nurture focus, collaboration and creativity – helping young people to thrive.
